Hi, I'm Megan. And here is a little bit of my story.
I've always been a tender hearted wallflower, slightly shy and lots of introverted. Around age 23, I did something I never in a million years would have thought I'd do. I started my own business. It was incredibly nerve wracking, putting myself out there for the world to see. Looking back, I kind of have no idea what lead to me opening an etsy shop. I just had the attitude that if others could do it, run a successful shop, then why couldn't I?
And call me crazy, but I took to crocheting like a duck to water. I grew up with a grandmother who was constantly knitting or crocheting so perhaps it's in my blood because in my early twenties, when I was itching for a craft, I picked up a set of crochet hooks and some yarn and haven't been able to put them down since. Now knitting is slightly more of a challenge, but I still love it just the same. I just love the feeling of yarn in my hands.
So on a whim, I opened an etsy shop. And after a few painful months, I started slowly making sales. (I've since passed my goal of making 100 sales woo woo!) Meanwhile, my instagram account (for some reason) has kind of taken off and I just got so excited about my life, my business, and all the wonderful people I've been able to get to know through starting this journey, I decided to go ahead and make this website and try my hand at blogging.
I've always had a passion for writing and since I'm a frequent blog enthusiast (*cough cough* blog stalker), I thought it was high time I started one for myself. So welcome! Here I like to share the things that matter, and the things that don't too. I share the little happenings in my life which currently mainly consists of the updates my husband and I make to our built-in-the-70's home, random DIY projects I decide to (get my husband to help me) tackle, crochet tips and tricks I come across, and the tidbits of knowledge I gain while I'm constantly in the process of building a successful etsy shop and growing my Instagram following aka my cool kids club (but let's get real here, I don't totally know what I'm doing half the time.)
I named my etsy shop and my blog Darling Be Brave as a gentle reminder for myself (and hopefully others) to be brave enough to follow passions and dreams, no matter how crazy they seem. For example, I live in the desert where it gets up to 110 degrees during the summer and where it pretty much never snows during the winter but yet I love to knit and crochet cozy scarves and beanies year round. (Hah. The heart wants what the heart wants?) And for example, I can be incredibly shy but I'm working every day to be brave enough to put myself out there and share my story with the world.
In this past year, I've done so many things that this shy little wallflower never even thought possible. And because of this fun journey I've ended up on, I've had the opportunity to make such amazing friends and have been blessed enough to have been given the opportunity to create pieces for extremely kindhearted individuals around the world. I don't care if this sounds cheesey but I feel forever changed for the better because of the choice I made in creating my own business. I truly love my job and my life.
And I just have to say that I am so happy you found your way to my website. If you ever have any questions for me, you can always reach me at email@example.com.
