making a pom pom garland with the new boye pom pom and tassel maker set.

Hi guys! I'm back with another easy tutorial! I've been having lots of fun with this pom pom and tassel maker set from Boye Yarn Crafts, and this week I want to show you how I threw together this super easy and super cute pom pom garland.

First of all, the Boye Pom Pom and Tassel Maker Set comes with ten different size pom poms ranging in size from the tiny .75" clear up to 6". So stinking handy. I used the little 2" one for the tutorial and used the 1.5" size for my actual garland.

Okay now on to the tutorial!

All you need is:

- Boye Pom Pom Maker

Step 1 - On your pom pom maker tool, you'll notice little notches on each side. Slide the end of your yarn into the notch on the left side, making sure to leave the tail a little long because this is the core string that will end up holding your entire pom pom together so be sure to give yourself some extra yarn to work with here. Then stretch your yarn across the tool and slide your yarn into the other notch on the right like the photos below.

Step 2 - Once your yarn is secure in both notches, start to wrap your yarn around the arch from back to front.

Keep wrapping evenly around the arch until your yarn is super thick and reaches between the two little teeth hanging off the bottom.

After you've wrapped your yarn around many times and your pom pom is looking nice and thick, cut the yarn that's attached to the skein.

Step 3 - In the notch on the side where you secured your yarn in the very beginning, you'll notice an opening big enough for your scissors to slide in. Cut that beginning strand of yarn to release the core string.

Take the yarn you just cut and gently tug it. You'll notice the strand hanging from the left side start to slide through. Be careful not to pull too hard or else you'll pull the strand all the way through and have to start completely over.

Step 4 - Take those two strands from each side and pull to center them around the bottom. Double knot them as tight as possible. This is what holds your entire pom pom together so make sure it's nice and secure.

Step 5 - Slide your scissors back into the groove on the side and start to to cut at the all the wrapped strands around the arch.

Your pom pom is starting to look like a pom pom! Yay! Go ahead and pull your pom pom out of the tool.

Your pom pom is going to look a little crazy at this point ha ha

Step 6 - Start to give your pom pom a little hair cut. One side is going to look perfectly round but the other half is going to be long and scraggly. Shape it to make both sides even and round.

And then you'll have the cutest little pom pom around.

Then all I did was thread a darning needle through each of the pom poms to make a simple garland that is so freaking cute I can't even handle it. Can't wait to hang this up for Madison's birthday that's in just a few weeks! And I can't believe she's almost a year old! Gah it's too crazy how fast time is going...

(I couldn't quite find the right shade of the Patons yarn, but this one is close. It's more of a cream or a fisherman color if you guys want to hunt down the exact shade.)

Thanks for reading, guys! Hope you have fun making pom pom garlands of your own!

xoxo
