Baking is something I love to do but never really make time for. And even though I'm 25 years old, I still feel like my skills in the kitchen are extremely lacking ha ha so in an attempt to correct this, I thought it'd be fun to blog about a new little treat that I've tried every month. I stumbled across this recipe by Six Sisters' Stuff on pinterest a while back and oh my goodness you guys, these Caramel Apple Crescent Roll Bites are to die for. So freaking delicious. Now mine definitely did not turn out as pretty as the Six Sisters' Stuff rolls did but they are still just as incredibly yummy.
And the best part? They are super easy to make. Here's the recipe.
Caramel Apple Crescent Roll Bites:
(via Six Sisters' Stuff)
2 (8 ounce) cans of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 tablespoons flour
1 (21 ounce) can Duncan Hines Caramel Apple Pie Filling
4 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Roll out crescent dough and separate crescents. In a mixing bowl, beat together cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and flour until smooth. Spread one tablespoon of cream cheese mixture on to each crescent roll. Drop one tablespoon of apple pie filling at the widest part of each roll. Roll up each crescent roll starting at the widest end, folding over any extra dough to hold in the filling. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Roll each crescent roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool and enjoy!
So even though this is probably like the easiest recipe ever, I struggled a bit. For one, I'm a dork and thought a tablespoon of the caramel apple filling didn't seem like enough so I overfilled every single roll before I realized my mistake (face palm). So yeah I made a huge mess, trying to force the rolls to roll up and still hold everything inside. Then I realized quickly that wasn't going to work so then I had to scoop a bit off of each roll. By the time I was finished, my hands were a sticky mess from the apple filling spilling over the sides which made each roll a sticky mess which made my pan a sticky mess.
Also, Six Sisters' Stuff instructions were slightly vague (and their photo not much help) so I couldn't really tell how the heck exactly they rolled their crescent dough up. I don't know if I did it right but I took the corners of the widest part and tucked them in before rolling if this helps anyone else.
And yeah since everything was super sticky and each roll on the verge of busting, I didn't dare pick them up to roll them around in the sugar and cinnamon so I just sprinkled a bunch on the top of each roll and called it a day.
I also think 15 minutes is just maybe a bit too long. I only cooked my second pan for 13 minutes and I think they turned out a bit better. Maybe it's my oven or maybe I just struggle at life. (Does anyone else feel like everything you touch becomes a thousand times harder than it needs to be? Because yeah that's the story of my life lately ha ha ha).
But despite all my struggles, oh my gosh you guys these rolls are so freaking good. I've already ate so many and am looking forward to giving this recipe a second try. I'm seriously drooling just thinking about them and am debating grabbing another to munch on. Mmm mmm mmm two thumbs up Six Sisters' Stuff for this unbelievably scrumptious recipe.
Thanks for reading guys! Let me know if you try this recipe and how it turns out :)
