I had my baby shower on May 7th, and it was so much fun! I'm a bit of a wallflower so I wanted my baby party to be more so just a chill, fun place where ladies could hang out, visit, and eat cookies. (A cookie party is my kind of party.) I'm not really into awkward/embarrassing games that put a huge spotlight on individuals, but I did find a couple of game ideas on pinterest for party goers to play and have something fun to do.
I thought it would be fun to have my party goers fill out one of these "dear baby" cards, addressed as if they were writing a letter to my baby, to see when they all thought my little one would be born and what she would be like. The responses were both sweet and hilarious.
Some of my favorites were:
"As you grow up, I'll be the one who sneaks you candy."
"As you grow up, I'll be the one who rescues you when mom is having a bad day."
"As you grow up, I'll be the one who shows you the world of chocolate."
"Here are some words of wisdom for your mommy, listen to those with experience...so not me."
"Here are some words of wisdom for your mommy, ...I don't know. I'm 15 years old."
And apparently most everyone wants my baby to inherit my curly hair (I had super curly hair when I was little) and her daddy's beautiful blue eyes. I'm totally fine with both of these things.
Here's a picture I snapped real quick before the party of the gift table which is actually my entertainment center.
Have you guys heard of the company Letterfolk? I begged Jake to get me one of these signs for my birthday, and I've been in heaven ever since. Makes my retro-lovin-heart so happy.
The Price is Right! This game was the best idea ever!
We bought a bunch of commonly used baby items before the shower and had guests guess the price of each item. During the party they could look at the table at their leisure and fill out a game card and then about half way through the party, my sweet Aunt Mary had a cute little saying about each baby item and revealed the correct price. Who ever had a total that was closest to (but not over) the correct total, won a candy bar. My mom was a cutie and bought like five candy bars so we could have lots of winners.
The other "game" I had for my party goers to enjoy is called Late Night Diapers where I asked guests to write down something either funny or sweet that would make me smile while I'm endlessly changing diapers. Some of the responses were hilarious!
Looking back, I really wish I had used sharpies because those Crayola markers didn't show up very well on the diapers. Oh well. But if you can read them, the responses were so funny!
Ones that made me especially giggle were:
"Think happy thoughts"
"I did this on purpose to spend more time with you"
"One day you'll look back and miss these days...not today...but someday"
Aaaand one of the few pictures I have of myself from the party, opening gifts. I received the most adorable outfits for my little one and the most beautiful handmade blankets and sweet books. I can't wait for her to get here so she can enjoy all her presents! This little one is so loved already.
Here's you a photo of my bump to enjoy ;)
Welp that was my baby shower in a nutshell! It was simple and sweet and perfect. I'm so grateful to have had so many special ladies over who wanted to celebrate my little baby.
