My beautiful Madison turned 6 months old yesterday! Ah I can't believe how quickly she's growing up! I'm so glad I take the time each month for these little photo shoots because it's amazing to see how different she looks each time. She gets more beautiful and sweet everyday. Buuuut since I'm super late at posting this like always, this post is dedicated to remembering what life was like when she was five months old ;) let's get to it!
I'm convinced I have the world's most beautiful baby (but I'm also convinced that every mama feels like they have the world's most beautiful baby ha ha). I find myself just staring at her all the time because I think she's so beautiful, and I can't believe how blessed I am to have her in my life.
This photo always makes me laugh! She looks soooo chunky! (That double chin though!) This little lady loves to reach for her toes all day everyday and loves to pull her socks off and chew on her toes ha ha
And she still hasn't rolled over but she's gotten SO close quite a few times! I feel like any day now she's gonna surprise herself and roll over on accident ha ha I think she has all the strength and muscles there, she just hasn't made the connection that she's capable.
I catch her all the time arching her back and practically laying on her side so she can see something above her and if she'd just move her leg forward a little, she'd roll right over. And when I'm nursing her, sometimes she'll unlatch and flop her body backwards to look around for a bit and then she can roll herself back to eat some more ha ha this little girl could totally roll from her back to her tummy. She just doesn't know it yet.
She does this funny thing where she'll scoot around while laying on her back? Not sure how to explain this, but she'll lift her bum in the air and push with her legs and slowly inchworm around all while laying on her back ha ha ha I don't know why I find this so funny but I really do. I'll lay her down to play with her play gym while I'm eating dinner and within five or ten minutes, she'll scoot herself off the blanket, off the rug, and almost onto the hard floor. Silly kid.
And while she's doing tummy time now, she pushes with her legs and rotates around clockwise/counterclockwise so the second she figures out how to push with her arms I might be in trouble and have a little crawler on my hands ;)
She's such a smiley baby now! I was in heaven during this whole photoshoot because it's definitely the most she has ever smiled while I took her pictures! Favorite set of pictures yet!
She still makes us work SO hard for a laugh though ha ha and more often than not, she'll just silently giggle while we do silly things. She looks like she's laughing, but she doesn't make a sound.
Whenever she smiles, I just completely melt inside. She seriously has the cutest smile ever! I get greeted with this smile after almost every naptime, and it's the best part of my day. She wakes up so happy!
This little lady loves to be held! She's still happiest when she's in my arms, but I'm totally okay with that. I don't really get anything done anymore, but she's growing so fast that I'm just soaking in all the snuggles while I can. Everything else can wait.
She suddenly wants everything that's in my hands ha ha so I now have to be careful when I'm eating or drinking anything because she's gonna do all she can to grab it. She also loves to grab my face now and look me in the eyes and it's probably the sweetest thing in the whole world. Buuuut I got to watch out sometimes because it can go from a sweet, loving, soft touch to nails digging into my cheeks in less than a second ha ha she can still be pretty feisty sometimes. Especially when she's hungry.
This kid is so spunky ha ha I mean, just look at that face? She has me and her daddy laughing all the time.
She's going through this phase where she likes to scratch at everything? Not in a mean or vicious way. It's as if she's just discovering different textures by running her nails across everything. Most of the time, I don't mind. I'll put a pillow next to us while she's sitting on my lap and she'll just scratch at it for ten minutes ha ha but other times she'll try to scratch at things like my leather couch while I'm feeding her and I'm like noooooo ha ha
She's currently sleeping pretty good at night. I mean it's still no where near as good of sleep as when I was able to swaddle her and have her in her Rock 'n Play, but every once and again, she'll surprise me and sleep from 7pm to 3am and then sleep again until 7am. But most nights she goes to bed around 7pm, is up again around midnight, and then up again sometimes at 3am, almost always at 5am, and then up again around 7am. Learning to let go and go with the flow. Found some books to read on the kindle app on my phone to help make all these middle of the night feedings a little more exciting ha ha
Her face is suddenly getting so expressive and it's so fun to watch her personality continue to grow and shine. She's such a funny kid, and I just find myself laughing all the time over how cute she is. It's hard to explain but she really gets into blowing raspberries now ha ha she used to just make the sounds but now her whole face gets so expressive. She'll pull her chin back so her double chin is super prominent and she squint her eyes and furrow her brows and have spit flying everywhere. It's so cute.
We've been trying the whole baby food thing lately and she honestly hasn't really been super into it. At first she'd shiver and gag and dry heave and slap the high chair and glare at me the whole time ha ha but we've been keeping at it and she's slowly getting used to things. Kind of ha ha we've been trying bananas this week and she doesn't hate them as much as the other fruits and veggies we've tried.
She's SO close to sitting up all by herself! She basically can for a minute or so and whenever she's on my lap, I barely even have to support her. She also hates leaning back now and will sit her self up if I try to lean her back ha ha so fun to watch her sit! I can't believe how fast she is growing up.
You can't really tell in these photos, but she loves to stick her tongue out all day everyday. And she loves to try to sing with me whenever I'm singing random songs.
She's gotten really good at standing too! I mean I obviously still have to help keep her balanced, but she completely holds herself up.
Look at all those rolls! And she has even more now since I'm so late in writing this! I like to joke that she has "rubber band wrists" because she's so chunky it looks like she has little rubber bands pulling in her skin for the rolls.
I just love this little lady so much and am ever so grateful that she chose me to be her mama. She lights up our house with so much love and happiness, and I can't even imagine how I ever lived my life without her. Love you so much my darling Madison Jane.
