It's that time again! Time to reflect on Madison's eighth month here on earth. Gosh I feel like so much has changed. This little lady is growing like a weed and learning new things everyday.
And this was her most expressive photoshoot yet ha ha she kind of sassed and yelled at me the entire time and I'm shocked I managed to get as many photos as I did of her smiling. You're in for a treat for some sassy faces ;)
Highlights from this month...
She went from zero teeth to two! Both her little bottom teeth popped through within days of each other and gosh they are so cute! She doesn't know what to do with them yet and she's constantly playing with them with her fingers and tongue and she is always chewing on her bottom lip ha ha
She's basically crawling now!! She can move so fast, especially pushing herself backwards or sideways. She's just barely figuring out how to go forward, but it's kind of only an inch at a time. It's progress though!
She can officially go from sitting to crawling ha ha it kind of scares her because she braces herself for falling face forward, hoping her little arms will catch her. So far so good but this isn't something she does very often because it makes her a little nervous still.
^^^Oh gosh, the faces she pulls ha ha ha she's like, "Are you kidding me, mom? We have to take all these photos again?" Sorry baby girl. Just four more times. And you're getting really mobile so I have no idea how the last four months are going to go...
She can also go from on her tummy to sitting! That one was so exciting to discover! I heard her calling for me one morning after nap time and when I went to go get her, she was sitting up in her crib and I was like, "What the heck?! How did you do that??" So that's her new trick to get out of tummy time. She'll just work really hard to push herself up into a sitting position ha ha it takes her a bit sometimes to get it, but she's getting the hang of it.
Speaking of crawling and whatnot, she doesn't like to be held like she used to which kind of breaks my heart! I'm not ready for my baby to grow up! But it's still so exciting and I'm so proud of her. Whenever I'm holding her and she's just done, she'll squirm around (and man is she surprisingly strong) until I set her on the floor so she can go exploring.
She's over her toys because she'd rather just practice scooting around the house ha ha I'm loving it! It's fun to see her having a good time and exploring and learning new things.
She's super curious about the world and hates facing me while I hold her. Well she doesn't hate it but she whips her head around from side to side, trying to take the whole world in. When she gets fussy when I'm out and about, usually if I turn her around while I'm holding her so she's facing out, she instantly calms down. It's so hard to hold her like that ha ha but us mama's do what we gotta do to keep the peace.
^^^Tell me that isn't one of the sassiest faces you've ever seen??
I can't remember if I mentioned this last month or when we started doing this exactly, but she loves sitting in a shopping cart now! Yay! Makes grocery shopping so much easier. We bought one of these cart covers from Copper Pearl so we just put her right in the cart like that and know she's comfy and protected from germs and she's usually really great while we're shopping now.
This one is a random one, she suddenly despises me putting lotion on her after bath time. She throws a total fit and freaks out. And I'm like, "We've been doing this every single night you're entire life? Why are you just now starting to complain?" ha ha also, it's totally a mind thing because I was curious and just pretended to put lotion on my hands one night and the instant I touched her, she still freaked out just the same. Silly baby.
We still aren't sleeping super great. I have had a few nights where she only wakes up once and man is that a treat.
She gives lots of hugs now, and I'm just in heaven. She'll sometimes softly chew on my shoulder though and I'm thinking to myself, "This is adorable now, but one day she's going to bite me with those new little teeth and it's going to hurt" ha ha ha
She loves me reading books to her. Sometimes when she's sassy and I've run out of ideas to keep her from whining and grumbling, I'll read her all the board books we own (which isn't nearly enough because I'm starting to memorize them ha ha). We'll read a page or two and I'll point out all the cute things on the page and she'll grab the book and chew on it for a bit and then we'll go back to reading. I love love love these little moments.
And she claps her hands now all the time! Not sure if I mentioned that last month (can you tell my brain is beyond fried from all the sleep deprivation ha ha), but it's so adorable. She'll usually just clap her hands on her own randomly throughout the day, but sometimes if I say, "Yay!" she'll start to clap her hands and I just think it's the funniest thing
Her daddy is so good at getting her laugh! Gosh she has the best laugh too! She gets the hugest grin on her face, and lets out the best giggles and gah I just melt! I can get her to laugh sometimes, but it's in the most random ways and it's usually when I don't even mean to be funny ha ha like one night she was laying on her back playing with a pair of her pants and I pulled them out of her hands a little too fast and it made her jump and she started laughing. I kept doing it over and over and she'd laugh every time! She changes the rules all the time so this is no longer funny to her ha ha but that was such a fun time.
She's finally starting to like food! Yay! So far there isn't a fruit or veggie she outright won't eat, but her favorites are sweet potatoes, mangos, peaches, and apples. I've even been able to share bits of banana with her and she's even willing to eat non pureed foods like those little baby cereal puffs! So exciting! Go baby go!
We love to go on walks now! I don't know why, but I haven't been making time for walks this entire time even though I absolutely love to go on walks! Madison was born in the intense heat of the summer and I endured her constant screaming (due to her colic/reflux) through the fall, then winter came and it was too cold. So anyway now that the weather is just absolutely lovely, we've been going on almost daily walks and it's been so much fun!
We even walked to the park on Sunday and pushed her on the swing for the first time ever and it was so cute! She didn't know what to think, but she didn't cry or freak out so I call it a major win! She's still a little tiny for it ha ha but it was fun for a second or two.
She loves to talk to herself and it just makes my heart melt. She's such a doll. She talks to herself while she's trying to fall asleep for nap time and during bath time, she'll talk to her toys in the water. She does everything from kind of singing to saying "bah bah bah" to even growling and I just find it all so hilarious and cute!
Besides making a "bah" sound, "mama" is still the only word she says ha ha I'm still not convinced she totally knows that she's saying my name, but she's really smart for having that be her first word because whenever she's upset or sassy, she'll say "mom!" or "ma ma ma!" and it sure makes me jump into action ha ha ha
^^^The most perfect thighs that ever existed.
I mentioned earlier that she's kind of over all of her toys ha ha so I've resorted to using random stuff from my kitchen like big plastic spoons or supper ware lids and she LOVES it! She'd rather a plastic cup than a stuffed animal or even a plastic toy any day. I joke that from now on, I'm just going to go to the dollar store and buy all her "toys" from the kitchen section ha ha ;) She's just in exploration and discovery mode and loves to learn about new things.
Poor baby is so sick of me taking her photos already ha ha I'll be honest, it'll be a huge relief when these monthly photos are finished. They are way more work than I thought, and a lot of stress for both of us. I know we'll both appreciate these someday though. Heck I already am so glad to be able to look back on how much she grew each month.
Love you baby girl. Thank you so so SO much for choosing me to be your mama and for your never ending patience with me. You bring such light and happiness and joy to my life and I don't know what I'd do without you. Looking forward to all the fun things month nine has to offer us!
