This post is insanely, embarrassingly late. Like I thought all the others were way behind schedule, but this one takes the cake. I've been trying to take better care of myself and not stress so much and dealing with this computer has been sooo stressful lately so I've just been slacking. Anyone have any suggestions for safe video storage? For over a year now, I've been avidly using the One Second a Day app which means I have over three hundred, probably even closer to over four hundred, little recordings taken from my phone. It's just maxed out the memory on everything. I have things backed up on a hard drive, but I have a deep, unexplainable paranoia with technology, and I'm somehow convinced that one day I'll plug that hard drive in and everything will be gone. Gah I need to make time to properly sort through the clips and put those worth saving on a dvd or something. Buuuut until then, I'll just keep battling memory storage issues ha ha
So yeah Madison is closer to eleven months at this point (future self, please forgive me) and part of me honestly doesn't know how we are going to make this project last all the way to a year photo wise because her ten month photoshoot was awful. I guess I'll write about that next time though and have the story match up with the photos ha ha
(Isn't she just so precious??)
So the way these posts work, I just make a little list of all the new adorable things Madison is up to since the last time I was able to post.
She crawls sooo fast now. And her preferred method for crawling is on her hands and feet with her little bum up in the air like a stink bug. I've heard people refer to it as a bear crawl, and I love it so much. So yeah she just zips around the house all day exploring every corner. I am currently in the never ending process of baby proofing everything, cleaning every nook and cranny in my home, and being a constant helicopter mom ha ha
She can now wave her hand hello and goodbye and gosh it's the cutest thing ever. She just flops her whole arm up and down real fast. My favorite thing is that I taught her how to wave by holding her and waving at her in a mirror so now all day anytime we pass a mirror, she gives me a little wave.
She now hardcore lifts her arms up in the air anytime she wants held which is so often these days and I love it! She went through a phase when she was learning to crawl and move around by herself that me holding her was unbearable because she was too busy and had too many fun things to do. So it feels so good for her to want me to hold her still. Oh and when I say hardcore lifts her arms up, I mean she forcefully extends her arms above her head and squishes her chunky cheeks with her arms and clenches her fists and just has the most serious look on her face. It's like she's saying, "Hurry and pick me up, mama! I can't take being on the floor any longer!" Wish I knew how to describe this better.
She talks all day everyday and I so love to hear her little voice. She says "ma ma", "da da", and "ba ba" and basically just random sounds. My most favorite thing she does is whenever she says "da da", it comes out in a little whisper for some reason ha ha so cute.
She loves to talk to her toys now. And the way she plays with them is changing. She's growing right up and instead of just chewing on absolutely everything, she now likes to inspect every nook and cranny of the toy and test hitting it off of things and pulling on it and squishing it on the floor. She still chews on everything too though ha ha also, she prefers non toys to actual toys. Meaning that she'd rather play with a mixing bowl or spatula than any of her toys any day ha ha
She yells. A lot. But like in an adorable way? Or maybe since I'm her mom, I'm the only one who finds it adorable ha ha she'll be crawling around the house at full speed and just yell, "Ahhhh" the entire time and it's so funny. I have to admit though, it's a lot less funny when the yelling happens when we are at the store.
She's starting to stand any chance she gets. I'll sit on the floor next to her throughout the day and she'll instantly crawl over to me and grab at my arms/shirt/hair to help her pull herself up into a standing position. She's also used the couch and the coffee table a few times to stand and is starting to use her little feet to scoot around. She might be walking before her birthday! So crazy!
My most favorite news to announce is that my baby officially sleeps through the night almost every night! And when I say sleeps through, I mean I lay her down at 7pm and she sleeps clear until 6am-7am! Go baby go! Feels amazing to finally be getting proper sleep again. Oh sleep, my long lost friend, I sure missed you. Her sleeping through the night has helped my anxiety problem out sooo much. So grateful. (I feel like I should admit that at least once or twice a week she decides to wake up at five in the morning, but that's still huge progress!)
She's starting to get way interactive and loves when her daddy and I play with her. She'll reach out toys and I'll pretend to grab at them with my hand and she'll just smile so big and put the toy back in her mouth. Then a second later, she reaches out the toy for me to play again. Love these little moments.
It's getting so much easier to make her laugh! Finally! Her daddy is still the best at getting little giggles out of her, but I've found that her neck is ticklish so I can get her to laugh sometimes too. She seriously has the best laugh in the entire world. I always say I wanna just bottle it up in a jar and keep that sweet sound forever.
She smiles so big throughout the day that her entire face scrunches up and it makes my heart pitter patter every time! And when she's sassing me, she'll also scrunch up her face with a sour look and breathe in and out her nose really fast ha ha this is probably my favorite because my entire life, my family would tell me how I did that as a baby and how it was the cutest thing ever so now seeing my baby make the exact same face is such a cool feeling.
This age is SO fun! This kid is so playful and energetic but still so chill and easy going. Being her mom is a total breeze right now. She's getting independent and loves to play with her toys and crawl around and explore and loves nothing more than when I just sit on the floor with her and play with her blocks. We have a system where I hurry and build a tower as fast as I can and she demolishes it as fast as she can ha ha it's the little things you guys.
Whenever her dad gets home from work, he'll lay on the floor and she likes to climb all over him like a jungle gym. Madison and her daddy are starting to become the best of buds, and it's so freaking adorable to watch them hang out together. She was such a mama's girl for so long so it's fun to see her being drawn to her daddy more and more.
She still claps her hands all day every day. Love it. So cute. And I haven't decided if she has me trained to say, "Yay!" every time she claps or if I have her trained to clap every time I say, "Yay!"
She's so good at eating solid food now! Hallelujah! She even loves to feed herself any chance she gets. And so far, the only food she outright refuses to eat is banana, and I find that so strange. Green beans? Yes. Squash? Yes. All other fruits and vegetables? Yes. Bananas? No way.
She seems extra super grown up all the sudden. When I look at her, I see a soon to be toddler rather than a little baby. (I kinda feel like she still looks like a baby in these photos though ha ha keep in mind I'm like a month and a half behind right now at updating this stuff.)
Her hair is growing like crazy all the sudden and I love it so much! She was born with a decent amount of hair and then she kinda went bald there for a good while and now her hair is getting so long and it has little curls in the back and it's so pretty!
She loves loves loves to read books with me. She'll crawl in my lap and we'll read through our board book pile. She's so cute and even turns the pages for me and loves to play with books on her own.
She's so easy to take places now. She loves getting out of the house and visiting new places and seeing new things. Still doesn't really have stranger anxiety either. If anything, she's getting more social as the days pass. She even gave a salesman at the store a high five the other day, and it blew my mind because usually acts so serious and reserved around strangers.
I'm happy to announce that her growling is still going strong.
Takes two solid naps during the day most days. Hopefully I'm not jinxing it by announcing that to the world. But gosh I love a good routine and everyday, almost without fail, she naps between 8am and 9am for about an hour and a half to two hours, and then by noon or 1pm she's itching for another nap and that one usually lasts about the same amount of time as the first one. Love it. I know babies are always changing and mixing up the rules, but I really love the rhythm we've currently fallen into. Madison gets well rested which makes it so I can get well rested and take care of the things that need taken care of.
She has four teeth now!! Two on the bottom and two on the top. I don't know how babies teeth usually comes in but with Madison, her bottom two teeth came in at the exact same time (within just a day or so of each other) and her top two teeth came in at the exact same time (the exact same day). Her smile is just so stinking cute now.
Her chunkiness is still going strong! Got to document these delicious thighs and scrumptious little feet.
I love you SO much miss Madison Jane! You are the light and sunshine in my life, you are all that is sweet and happy, and I am so unbelievably blessed to be your mama. Thank you so much for choosing me. I love you forever.
