frequently asked questions.

Hello my darlings!

As much as I deeply love and appreciate each and every one of you for purchasing one of my patterns and supporting my little shop, the volume of emails I receive every week is getting to be a little more than I can handle. I'm just a one woman show who's doing her best to take care of her business and her family. I have a new baby who needs much of my time and attention, and I'd love to be able to guiltlessly spend more time with her rather than constantly needing to be on the computer/phone, trying to answer every email/comment/message. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding so I can take more time to enjoy my sweet family.

If you have any question related to making your pattern, please please please don't hesitate to contact me! I absolutely want you to be happy with your pattern purchase. But if it's a technical question related to etsy's website or viewing your PDF file, please be okay with checking through this FAQ page to find your answer.

I totally understand that the internet and technology in general can be confusing. (I probably struggle more than most ha ha). But I didn't design etsy's website or have any say in how they decide to run things so it can get really challenging for me to try to answer all the technical questions. You could probably get a clearer response (and a quicker response because they don't have to try to do all the research I have to every time I get a question), if you contact etsy's help team directly.

Here's a link to their contact page:

To try to remedy my communications overwhelm situation a bit, I'm compiling all my questions I've ever received this last year from selling patterns. No question is too silly so in case you're wondering the same thing, hopefully you'll find your answer below. I'm hoping that by compiling all of this into one list, it will be a quick and easy way for you to get answers, making it so that my response time can be quicker and you can enjoy your patterns sooner!

Real quick though, I'd like to explain that I frequently get requests to personally send individuals patterns through email, and there just aren't enough hours in the day to be able to do this each time. I do realize there are special circumstances, and I absolutely want to do everything I can to make sure you get and are satisfied with your pattern purchase. But I would sincerely and deeply appreciate it if you could take the time to find the answer to your question and download your pattern from etsy. I chose to sell patterns on etsy because of the convenience for both me as the seller, and you as the customer. Etsy's website is an awesome place where you can and will always have access to every pattern you purchase. You have two avenues to pursue to download your pattern, straight from the etsy website, and etsy also sends you a link right to your email.

Here's a link to etsy's help page explaining common downloading problems:

I sincerely apologize, but I just can't always take the time to send each and every one of you an email with all the links to your patterns. It all can get incredibly time consuming, and slightly stressful to keep everything straight. (I may have sent a person the wrong pattern once after being up all night with a newborn. Sooo embarrassing.) Etsy is here to help clear up the confusion, giving you all the files I created for your pattern with the ability for you to access these files anytime.

That being said, if you've exhausted every avenue and still are having difficulties, by all means please reach out to me, and I'll do what I can to ensure you get all the files you purchased.

Before getting into the list, I feel like I should also apologize in advance that I am not a very tech savvy person, and I'm not the most skilled as acting as tech support when it comes to questions regarding how etsy's website works, but here's some answers I've dug up the last year of selling patterns.

And if you can't find the answer you're looking for, like I mentioned before, etsy has trained professionals that are most likely better at answering questions than I am.

Okay, the real reason you're here. On to the questions, and more importantly, the answers! ;)

Darling Be Brave's FAQ

Can I sell items made from your patterns?

Absolutely you can! Please feel free to sell the pieces you make to family, friends, and/or in your own shops! Just be sure to use your own photos and please reference Darling Be Brave as the pattern creator. The pattern you used to create the piece, however, is my own personal copyright and is not to be shared, copied, or distributed.

Can I share a pattern I purchased with a family member/friend?

No, please do not share my patterns, doing so is considered theft and is disrespectful to me as a designer. So much work and time goes into each pattern, and it is only to be viewed and enjoyed by the person who purchased the pattern. If someone you know loves the pattern you're using, please direct them to my shop so they can purchase their own copy. Thank you so much in advance :)

I tried contacting you with a question about my pattern purchase, but I haven't heard back yet. What do I do?

I feel like I should let you know that I'm a mother and a wife, doing her best to act as a "one woman show" and take care of way too many things. The amount of emails/messages/comments I receive can get extremely overwhelming, and it's getting to the point where it feels impossible to get back to everyone, especially in a timely manner. I created this FAQ page to try to give me some relief so hopefully you'll find the answer to your question here. If not you can try contacting me again through etsy messaging or through email at, or you can be patient while I do my best to take care of everybody.

And if it's a technical problem you're having with obtaining or viewing your pattern with etsy, you can always try contacting their help services:

I have not received my pattern yet. Please help!

As soon as your payment has processed, etsy will send you a download verification email. If you haven't received the email, try checking your spam or junk folder, and if you use gmail, try checking your "Social" and "Promotions" tabs.

Or you can download the files right from your etsy account. Click on "You" in the top right corner of the page, then click on "Purchases and Reviews" and find your order, click "Download Files" and this will take you to a Downloads page where you can find all the files attached to this pattern.

At the time being, you cannot access the download files through the etsy app, you must use a computer or mobile browser on your phone/tablet.

For more information, click on this link from etsy's help page:

Can you email me my pattern I purchased? (Example: I had it downloaded, but my computer crashed and now I can't access it anymore.) Is it possible to have this pattern sent to me again?

Unfortunately it can get really time consuming and stressful for me to personally email each of you the pattern pdf files, but if you go to your profile on etsy's website and click on "You", then click on "Purchases and Reviews", you'll find your order from the pattern purchase. To the right of your order, click on "Download Files" and that should bring you to a downloads page where you can download the pattern again.

And you can also look up the email etsy sent you with your download link during your original purchase.

If you need more information, here's a link to a help page created by etsy:

Please remember to save your patterns during download, even if it's just saving etsy's download link in a special folder in your email so you can have easy access to your pattern at any time. If you've exhausted other resources and need me to personally send you a pattern again, please send me an email at with your original order number and I'll re-send your PDF files as soon as I can.

Is there anyway I can get a refund? (Example: I thought I was ordering an actual basket, but I accidentally bought one of your patterns.)

I apologize for the confusion, but unfortunately I do not offer refunds for pattern purchases. Due to the nature digital files, they were automatically sent to you the minute you clicked purchase.

However, if you've accidentally purchased the same pattern twice, please let me know, and I'll refund your money for this special circumstance.

And if you're having a problem with my pattern or if you're unsatisfied or find something confusing, please contact me! I want you to be happy with your purchase and will do what I can to remedy the situation.

I can't seem to download your pattern onto my iPad/iPhone. Any suggestions?

For some reason, buyers aren't able to download digital purchases through the etsy app on a phone or tablet. You need to use either a mobile browser on your phone/tablet or use an actual computer to access files by going to the etsy website. Once you're on etsy's website and logged into your account, click on "You" in the top right corner of the page, then click on "Purchases and Reviews" and find your order, click "Download Files" and this will take you to a Downloads page where you can find all the files attached to this pattern.

Do you have a tutorial for making a magic circle?

You bet I do! Click on this link and it will take you to my tutorial:

I'm not much of a crocheter, but I love your baskets! Can I buy one that you've made?

Absolutely! My time is extremely limited right now, so I'm not currently taking on any custom orders, but I have an etsy shop with several baskets to choose from that are made and ready to ship to your house right away. Visit if you'd like to check out what's available.

I saw you have an adjustable basket pattern available, and I was wondering if your mini basket pattern is included within the pattern?

No. It isn't. My mini basket pattern is available for separate purchase. My adjustable basket pattern was designed with the purpose to give you the knowledge to be able to create and design your own baskets, almost any size, including your own version of a mini basket. But if you'd like my specifics for the basket that started it all, my signature piece, the mini basket pattern is available for separate purchase at

(Similar to above) I bought your adjustable basket pattern and noticed that the instructions are missing for your mini/small/medium/large/hamper basket that I saw on instagram. Could you please send me the instructions for your specific designs?

So sorry there was any confusion prior to your purchase. I did my best to make the listing as clear as possible for what would be included in my adjustable basket pattern: the basic basket pattern, how to take that knowledge to create your own designs, and two of my own personal designs as a bonus to help get you started.

The adjustable basket pattern is intended to give you the skills to be able to create your own basket designs and sizes so only a few of my own personal designs are included. I'm so flattered and happy that you like my designs, but my mini basket and other baskets are designs that I've spent a long time (in some cases, a couple of years) perfecting, and they have become my signature pieces. The adjustable basket pattern is already ridiculously long and packed full of information (including all the information you'd need to design all the baskets you see on my instagram, even the laundry hamper sized basket), but if you'd like to know my exact specifics for my mini basket, that pattern is available in my DarlingBeBraveDesign etsy shop, but with the adjustable basket pattern, you can easily design your own. It's up to you.

If you'd like to see any of my specific basket size patterns in the shop in the future, let me know and I'll add it to my list of patterns to make to sell separately :)

I know this sounds like a silly question, but does your adjustable basket pattern come with instructions for different sizes? I just wanted to make sure before I bought the pattern.

Yep! My adjustable basket pattern comes with four different pdf's. One will walk you through the basic steps for making one of my baskets in detail complete with a step by step picture tutorial. The second is a text only version of the first pattern, with all the steps conveniently condensed to one page for easy reference. The third pdf file is where the fun begins. It's your resource for how to take your basic basket knowledge you just learned and how to adjust that into almost any sized basket you desire, large or small, short or tall. It gives you instructions for how to adjust the base and sides to any size you need and it also gives a formula for how to know how to create handles any size so they'll center each other on each side of your basket. The fourth file gives you extra tips and tricks and all my commonly asked questions when making one of my baskets. If you'd like to purchase my Adjustable Basket Pattern, visit

I can't figure out how to print my pattern. I'm using a Mac computer. Any ideas?

I feel terrible, but I struggle so bad when it comes to technology so this problem is way over my head. I know from a couple users they were able to access and print the files from her original email etsy sent with the link from her purchase. And they were able to view their patterns using their phone or tablet. I've sold over 500 patterns and this problem has only come up twice which is so odd because I've sent my patterns to many Mac users. I wish I knew how to better help, but if trying the above steps doesn't work for you, maybe try to contact etsy's help support by clicking this link:

When I click on the link that etsy sent me to download my pattern files, this message comes up. "Uh oh! You are trying to view a receipt that does not belong to you." What do I do?

I did a quick google search and saw that others who have had that problem somehow weren't logged in while they were trying to open the link from their email. So maybe double check that you're logged in and/or logged into the correct account that you bought the pattern from while you're trying to click on the download link.

Here's the link to the two etsy help convos where I found this information in case what I'm saying doesn't make sense:

Also, I'm not sure if you're already aware of this, but you can download your patterns straight from your etsy account. Log into your etsy account online. Click on "You" in the top right corner of the page, then click on "Purchases and Reviews" and find your order, click "Download Files" and this will take you to a Downloads page where you can find all the files attached to this pattern.

If your question wasn't answered, please feel free to reach me through etsy messaging or send me an email at Please be aware though that due to the volume of emails I receive, and a sweet little baby that requires much of my attention, it can take me a little while to be able to respond. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding!
